Hyundai Heavy Industries-Engine & Equipment Division (HHI-EMD) reported it has examined a LNG-hydrogen mixed-fuel operation in a four-stroke HiMSEN engine – a primary in South Korea’s shipbuilding trade
The South Korean enginebuilder stated it examined a 1.5-MW LNG Hydrogen HiMSEN engine that was developed with its personal inhouse expertise, with its efficiency and stability confirmed at HHI-EMD’s R&D centre.
The blending ratio of hydrogen was 25%, which might cut back CO2 emissions by 30% in contrast with a diesel engine, in response to the corporate.
HHI-EMD stated this LNG-Hydrogen HiMSEN engine can be utilized as a stationary engine at an influence plant, marine genset engine or ship’s propulsion engine. The engine also can use hydrogen boil-off fuel for gas.
HHI-EMD has been creating the eco-friendly engines that use LNG, methanol and ammonia for gas, with plan to launch a pure hydrogen combustion engine by 2025.
HHI-EMD just lately opened a brand new manufacturing unit to provide dual-fuel engines in anticipation of elevated demand.
